1) Phone cellular data

The S8 allows users to connect to the phone's hotspot via 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi or Bluetooth tethering for Internet access.

Running online maps or streaming online music on an Android car radio doesn't require much bandwidth (less than 200 kb/s), Bluetooth tethering is able to handle such demands. Compared to WiFi connection, Bluetooth tethering consumes less power, so the phone battery will last much longer when Bluetooth tethering is enabled; WiFi connection is simpler as it only requires one step: enable the phone's WLAN hotspot, then the WiFi connection can be completed within 2-4 seconds; Bluetooth connection requires 2 or 3 steps; USB network tethering is a newly introduced option by ATOTO, it allows users to share the phone data with the S8 via USB connection. This could help save the phone's battery or even slightly increase the phone's battery level; You only need to run the specific CarbitLink application in the background;

2) Built-in 4G cellular modem

The SIM card slot only accepts micro sizes. The SIM with data plan is not included in the product package.

The integrated 4G LTE modem module works with frequency bands supported by most carriers. The supported frequency bands are - 2G (GSM 850, GSM900, GSM1900); 3G WCDMA (B1, B2, B4, B5, B8); 4G LTE (B1, B2, B4, B5, B7, B8, B12, B13, B17, B19, B25, B26, B38, B41); Only carriers supporting the bands listed above can allow the S8 to access the network.
