I purchased this A5L unit to replace an older A6Y model from Atoto, mainly because of performance and Native Android Auto support.The smaller footprint of the A5L made it easier to install and get up and running quickly with plenty of space behind the unit for wiring. I was able to use my original backup camera remote wire, RCA, and external mic leads on the A5L.As far as usage goes, here are the pros and cons that I ran into:Pros:1. Performance and responsiveness is alot snappier than the A6Y.2. Wifi downloads and app installation on A5L performs much better.3. Sound is nice with lots of options on EQ.4. The ability to program short AND long presses on the SWC doubles the capabilities of my steering wheel controls, which was a pleasant surprise.5. Having the ability to turn off the screen (not just dim), but still have the music playing (which I mapped to a SWC button) is nice for nighttime driving.6. Native Android Auto and Carplay support.Cons:1. I was really hoping to be able to use the same GPS antenna lead that had already been run from the previous A6Y install, but the connector was different.2. Not as many rear usb ports as the A6Y3. I haven't been able to figure out if there is a way to change the default music player (I prefer Poweramp for local music).4. The UI is does not have as many customization features as the A6Y.5. This is a big one. While I was initially able to connect my phone to use Android Auto via USB, I can no longer connect via usb after having connected via Wireless Android Auto. There doesn't seem to be an easy way to disable Wireless android auto and just rely on usb connection exclusively.This may be a deal breaker if I can't get USB Android Auto working, and if there really is no way to change either the UI to run Poweramp as a default music player, or to change the default music player in general, I'm not sure the upgrade will work for me. Which is a shame, because performance-wise, the A5L is noticeably faster/smoother than the A6Y, but the old UI and options on the A6Y are better, IMO.Also, I haven't had a chance to try out the OBDII adapter and Torque, but am planning on giving it a shot.Overall, I think this is a great unit for the price, and most users would probably be happy with the performance. However, if I can't get the Wireless Android Auto issue figured out, as well as how to change the default music player app to Poweramp, then I'm up in the air on whether or not to go back to the A6Y.

I bought this A5L to replace the OE radio in my 2015 Mazda 6. Installation was relatively easy; used Metra harness and trim kit. Extremely happy with this Atoto unit. FINALLY I have Navigation and a sound system that works. Mazda issued a TSB on 2014/15 models....

This radio fits my 1999 Toyota Tacoma first GEN perfectly! If you’re on the fence it’s worth a look. The installation was super easy and it fit like a glove. I’m very happy with this purchase!

I have waited a month to do a review on this, as I feel some items need time to get a good review and opinion on them.That being said, I have a 2014 Passat that I wanted Android Auto in, and found this A5L from Atoto. I have always been a name brand kind of guy, and when I saw the $150 price tag on this radio I was reluctant to give it a try. But I wasn't needing anything fancy, Android auto was really the only thing on my mind for convenience. I have been so impressed by this radio! What is very impressive, is the customer service!! I feel like if a product comes with good customer service that makes the product in itself! Gladys has been very helpful! Very happy customer! They do make a wide range of radios with a wide range of price tags, but that high price tag is what I was trying to avoid on a name brand radio. This radio even at its price point, comes with all the necessary RCA plugs for all kinds of amplifier speaker subwoofers etc along with an AV in which allowed me to install a front camera as well as a backup camera on my car. Please forgive my video editing skills, I was looking through the screen to push the buttons on the radio. I have not had an issue with the touch feature on that screen.

I bought the A5L Android Double DIN Car Stereo with OBD II Scanner, 7 inch Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto Touchscreen Radio 2G+32G, 24-B EQ DSP, WiFi/BT/USB Tethering, GPS Tracker, FM/AM for my cousin, who drives a 2019 Honda CR-V base model without Apple CarPlay. Before, he had to rely on his phone’s small screen for GPS, which was very inconvenient and stressful. He often missed exits because the display was hard to see while driving.This unit made a huge difference — the 7-inch touchscreen is clear and easy on the eyes, wireless CarPlay and Android Auto work smoothly, and the built-in GPS tracker makes navigation much safer. The sound quality with the 24-band EQ DSP is excellent, and the multiple connectivity options (WiFi, Bluetooth, USB tethering) are very handy. Now he can drive with confidence without worrying about wrong turns. A really useful upgrade!
