Sounds Great and Rocks

Great sounding little amp that installs out of the way and really elevates your sound quality. Worth every penny. Once you try it you realize how much more refined and conrolled your music can sound.

Loud.

I just installed this, and it is loud. I have my head unit at 1 and it is still to loud. I have to readjust my speaker gains to see if I can lower the volume.Nice thing about this amp. It works. Might sound a little strange, but the amp before this one would not shut off. It was the CA-AEC01. From the ignition hotwire to the head unit would always run at 2.7 to 3.5 volts. This would not allow for the CA-AEC01 to shut off the head unit. The amp would run hot that it would almost burn your fingers. It had killed one battery already. It took forever to find out what was causing it. Customer service did not want to own up to a defective amp, and made me jump through some serious hoops. In some respect I believe the CA-AEC01 is slightly a little bit nicer sounding that the CA-AEC02, due to the adjustable pots for the gain on the bass, mids, and trebles. CA-AEC02 only has a speaker gain that works for the front channel, and one for the rear. The rest you better hope that you have a good EQ.The CA-AEC02 is much easier to install, and can be mounted just about anywhere. It comes with about an eighty inch (80") extension cable that allows you to mount it where ever the eighty inches takes you in your vehicle. Plus it also comes with the ability to connect directly to your cars battery to bump the voltage of the amp to 16v.Runs much, much cooler. I have mine mounted on the head unit chassis. Behind the dash. I can still touch the amp after a few hours of playing hard.Turns off. When my key goes off so does my head unit, and amp. Now I am not sure what will happen after I hook up my battery to the amp, and flip the switch from Acc to HI. By default the amps ACC/HI switch is set to high. I'll keep you informed. As of right now I am ok with the amp, again doesn't sound as rich as the CA-AEC01, But so far I haven't had any clipping.

Big Power in a Small Package. HEAR the Music!!

Before I begin my review of the product itself, I would like to say that SUPPORT IS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! I am a consumer and when I buy stuff, particularly electronics, I want to know that if I have a question, issue or don’t understand something, that there is someone that I can turn to for help. With my previous ATOTO F7 and with my two new ATOTO S8 Ultra’s coupled with the CA-AEC02 Car Amplifier I had many questions and a few issues on things that I didn’t understand. Support has ALWAYS responded to me with Expert Assistance; therefore, I would like to say KUDOS! And THANK YOU.Without getting technical and listing a lot of specs, I'll just say that this little Amp basically doubles the output of the Head Unit. The install is super simple if you install it behind the HU, which is what I did. The hardest part was taking the dash apart.Since I needed to upgrade the Head Unit in my wife’s 2012 Ford Escape, I decided to pair it with the ATOTO CA-AEC02 Amplifier. I am so glad that I made that decision.First off, my wife’s car doesn’t have a Subwoofer and with previous radios, we had to do a lot of tweaking to get decent sound. While I absolutely love the S8 Ultra in my Expedition (Premium Sound w/Sub), I really didn’t know what to expect with my wife’s car.The installation was super simple. I installed the 20-pin connector between the Head Unit and Amplifier, made all of the connections to the Head unit (antennas, GPS, RCA’s, etc.) and then connected the CA-AEC02 Amplifier to the Double Din Brackets on the Head Unit. From there it was as simple as plugging in the prewired harness from the vehicle into the other side of the Amplifier. I adjusted the volume knobs on the Amplifier according to Atoto recommendations. The test run was amazing! As previously mentioned, my wife’s car does not have a subwoofer, but just playing around we had bass that actually rattled the windows. What I really noticed were the highs and midrange acoustics. It was almost like you could single out every instrument, bells tinkling, little chirps and other sounds that I had not heard before in listening to the same song for over 40 years. (I’m an old school music fan from the era where the bands actually played instruments and you could understand the words of the songs). It sounded like I was listening to the song for the very first time. The Amplifier is very small, but has a little weight to it, which threw me because I wondered how such a compact unit could deliver such a big sound. In hindsight, I thought about the commercial that says “hear the music”. Well, this is what they were talking about, because now I am really hearing the music.ATOTO may not be a household name in the U.S. (yet), but the quality of their products really sets them apart. So far, I have purchased 1-F7, 2-S8 Ultras, 1-TPMS kit, 2- OBDII Scanners and last but not least, 1-AEC02 Amplifier and have been completely happy with all of these items. If you are in the market for a quality Amp for your Atoto Head Unit, you can’t go wrong with the CA-AEC02.

Returned after test installation

I wanted to love it. Got too hot for me to feel safe running it in my vehicleHad I incorporated a fan this might have been satisfactory for me, but I wanted a plug and play system. I cannot recommend, but you may find a way for it to be good for you.

Easy install - BIG sound

It was easy to tuck this amp behind my Atoto double din in my Mazda Miata. It came with all the wiring needed and was an easy plug and play upgrade if you already have an Atoto!I have one of the newer "short" depth head units, and adding the amp made it about normal double din size.Would love to see a dedicated subwoofer output in the future, but for simple 4 channel setups this will really help. Finally hear the difference from upgrading my OEM speakers!
