Chapter 3 Home Screen

This chapter introduces the vehicle's home screen. The Home Screen is the central interface of the car stereo, providing quick access to frequently used functions, real-time information display, and personalized user interface settings. Designed with a modular layout, the Home Screen enables drivers to operate swiftly while minimizing distractions during driving.

Home Screen Layout

3.1 Home Screen Layout (User Interface Layout)

The Home Screen (User Interface) consists of four functional areas: the Status Bar, the Widget Display Area, the Shortcut Bar, and the App Drawer.

3.1.1 Status Bar (at the Top Right of the User Interface: Area A)

This area displays essential indicators such as volume, network state, and time.

Note:

By default, swiping down from the right side of the Status Bar at the top of the Vision car stereo’s home screen opens the message notifications, while swiping down from the left side opens the Quick Settings Panel (for accessing Bluetooth management, screen brightness adjustment, volume adjustment, etc.).

3.1.2 Widget Area (Customizable Display Widget: Area B)

This area can display commonly used widgets (e.g., weather, navigation, etc.) and applications (e.g., YouTube, Spotify, etc.). It serves as the core functional zone for user interface interaction, featuring a dynamic card-based architecture. Its modular design ensures efficient information presentation and direct access to operations, while offering extensive personalization that allows users to freely arrange layouts and select different widgets and applications.

3.1.3 Shortcut Bar (Fixed at the Bottom of the home screen: Area C)

This area provides quick-access shortcuts to frequently used functions, enabling effortless system control and app launching.

Common Usage Issue

Issue:

How can I hide the Shortcut Bar?

Solution:

To hide the Shortcut Bar:

Long-press any blank area on the Shortcut Bar.

To show it again:

Long-press the middle of the screen where a white bar is visible.

Summary:

Long-press the Shortcut Bar → Hide

Long-press the white bar in the middle of the screen → Show

Issue:

Does the real-time weather widget on the Vision series car stereo home screen require both an internet connection and GPS to function properly, or is an internet connection alone sufficient?

Solution:

The real-time weather feature on the Vision series car stereo requires both an internet connection and GPS location to function accurately.

  • The internet connection is used to retrieve the latest weather data.
  • The GPS function is used to determine the device’s precise location.

If only an internet connection is available without GPS location, the weather information may still appear, but the location accuracy may be reduced, which can result in noticeable errors in the displayed weather data.

Summary:

The car stereo's real-time weather feature requires both internet connectivity and GPS positioning for accurate results. Using the internet only without GPS may lead to inaccurate weather information due to location errors.

3.1.4 App Drawer (in the middle of the Shortcut Bar: Area D)

The App Drawer is an important component of the Vision series car stereo’s home screen. As a centralized area for managing apps, it displays all installed app icons in layers. Typically, it is represented by a simple and clear “grid” icon located at the bottom of the home screen, allowing drivers to quickly browse while driving. Clicking this “grid” icon expands the App Drawer, revealing all frequently used apps. When there are many apps installed, the App Drawer displays the app icons across multiple pages, which users can scroll through to conveniently find the desired app.

3.2 Quick Settings Panel (Control Center) via Status Bar

The quick settings panel is the integrated control center. Swipe down from the left side of the status bar at the top of the Vision series car stereo’s home screen to open the Quick Settings Panel (Control Center). Common Usage Issue

Issue:

When connecting to Wi-Fi, the message appears: “To switch networks, please disconnect the Ethernet connection.”

Solution:

Cause Explanation:

(1) The car stereo is currently using a wired network (Ethernet), so the system does not allow switching to Wi-Fi.

In the Android system, Ethernet (wired network) has a higher priority than Wi-Fi. When the system detects that Ethernet is connected, Wi-Fi may be disabled, or switching networks may not be allowed.

(2) Why does an Ethernet connection appear?

This happens because a USB network device is recognized as an Ethernet connection. On the car stereo, USB network devices may be identified as Ethernet. When a USB network device is connected to the car stereo, the system considers Ethernet to be active, so Wi-Fi cannot be switched. After removing the USB device connected to the car stereo, the system disconnects from Ethernet, and Wi-Fi can then connect normally.

Summary:

The system detects a wired network connection established through a USB device. When an Ethernet connection is present, the Android system restricts Wi-Fi switching. After removing the USB device, the Ethernet connection is disconnected, and Wi-Fi can function normally.

  1. Issue:

When using Wireless CarPlay on the Vision series car stereo, if a 24bit / 192kHz high-resolution lossless audio file is played from the iPhone Music app, what audio format will be output through the optical or coaxial output on the car stereo?

Solution:

When audio is output through the optical (SPDIF) or coaxial output of the Vision series car stereo, the audio signal will be downsampled, and the final output format will be 48kHz / 16bit. This means that an original 24bit / 192kHz high-resolution lossless audio source will be processed by the car stereo, reducing the sampling rate from 192kHz to 48kHz and the bit depth from 24bit to 16bit.

Although the sampling rate and bit depth are reduced during this process, 48kHz / 16bit audio quality is generally sufficient for typical listening scenarios. However, users who are highly sensitive to audio quality or who pursue high-resolution audio performance may notice differences compared to the original high-resolution source.

Common Usage Issue

Issue

The customer accidentally changed the background color of the Bluetooth (BT1) app from the default black to another color and would like to restore it to black.

Issue Analysis

This issue is not related to the wallpaper setting. Instead, the app interface color was changed through the Palette feature.

On the Vision series car stereo system, the background color of the Bluetooth/Phone interface is controlled by the Palette app. It is not controlled by the system wallpaper settings or Bluetooth settings.

Therefore:

  • It cannot be restored through the system wallpaper settings.
  • It cannot be found or changed in the Bluetooth settings.

Solution

Follow the steps below to restore the default black background:

Step 1:
Open the Palette app on your Vision series car stereo.

Step 2:
In the Palette interface, select the Phone icon.

Step 3:
Choose black from the color options.

Step 4:
Tap Apply to confirm.

After completing these steps, the Bluetooth interface will return to the default black background.

Explanation

The Palette app applies color settings on a per-app basis. Only selected apps are affected by the color change.

The Bluetooth interface uses the same UI color logic as the Phone app. Therefore, selecting the Phone icon also changes the Bluetooth interface color.

Notes

  • The Palette feature only applies to built-in system apps, such as Phone and Bluetooth.
  • It does not support third-party apps.
  • Make sure the correct app is selected. Otherwise, the change will not take effect.

Summary

If the Bluetooth background color is changed unintentionally, restore it through the Palette app instead of the system wallpaper settings or Bluetooth settings.

Select the corresponding app, choose black, and tap Apply to restore the default appearance.

The Vision series car stereo features a built-in DSP module that provides 10 independent speaker channels, enabling true 7.1.2 surround sound without the need for an external processor. Additionally, it is equipped with 6 RCA outputs, allowing installers to customize the setup according to your audio system requirements.

  1. Bi-amping (Dual Amplifier Drive)

Bi-amping refers to the use of two independent amplifiers to drive different driver units within each speaker system, including tweeters (FR TW = Front Right Tweeter & FL TW = Front Left Tweeter) and mid-woofers (FR MID WF = Front Right Mid-Woofer & FL MID WF = Front Left Mid-Woofer), thereby optimizing frequency band allocation and sound quality. Key features include:

  • Independent Crossover Settings

The system supports independent adjustment of the crossover points for tweeters and mid-woofers, slope tuning, and the through mode.

  • Reduced Intermodulation Distortion

By driving the tweeters and mid-woofers separately, the system maximizes the reduction of signal interference as well as energy loss, resulting in purer and clearer sound. Ideal for users focused on high-fidelity audio performance.

  1. Tri-amping (Triple Amplifier Drive)

Tri-amping refers to the use of three independent power amplifiers to drive different driver units of each speaker system, including tweeter (FR TW = Front Right Tweeter & FL TW = Front Left Tweeter), midrange (FR MID = Front Right Midrange & FL MID = Front Left Midrange), and woofer (FR WF = Front Right Woofer & FL WF = Front Left Woofer), enabling extreme crossover precision and dynamic performance. Key features include:

  • Independent Crossover Settings

The system supports independent adjustment of the crossover points for tweeters, midrange, and woofers, as well as slope tuning and through mode.

  • Reduced Intermodulation Distortion

By driving the tweeters, midrange, and woofers separately, the system maximizes the reduction of signal interference as well as energy loss, resulting in purer and clearer sound.

  • Professional Tuning Flexibility

Offers expansive soundstage capabilities and detailed sound reproduction, catering to high-end audio systems and professional tuning enthusiasts.

  1. High Pass/Low Pass Frequency Adjustment (Area 3)

The High Pass and Low Pass Frequency adjustments allow users to configure these parameters and precisely control the frequency range delivered to each speaker unit, optimizing the overall sound performance and extending the lifespan of the speakers. Key Benefits:

  • Enhances sound clarity and separation;
  • Reduces frequency overlap and energy loss, avoiding interference between

speaker units;

  • Enables personalized sound tuning to suit different speaker configurations and

in-car acoustic environments.

  1. High Pass Frequency (Typical Range: 20 Hz to 20 kHz)

Function: Allows users to set the cutoff frequency of the high-pass filter, so that only audio signals above the specified frequency are passed to the speaker, while signals below that frequency are attenuated or filtered out.

Application: Mainly used to protect midrange and tweeter speakers, preventing low-frequency signals from being input and causing distortion or damage; commonly used for front door speakers or tweeter units. Adjustable Parameters:

  • Crossover Point: Common values include 100Hz, 150Hz, 200Hz, etc.
  • Slope: Options like 12dB/oct, 24dB/oct, etc., determine how quickly the signal attenuates.
  1. Low Pass Frequency: Typical Range: 20 Hz to 20 kHz)

Function: Allows users to set the cutoff frequency of the low-pass filter so that only audio signals below the set frequency are sent to the speakers, especially subwoofers, while signals above that frequency are attenuated or filtered out.

Typical Application: Ensures that woofers or subwoofers only play low-frequency ranges, reducing high-frequency noise and enhancing bass performance. Adjustable Parameters:

  • Crossover Point: Common settings include 80Hz, 100Hz, 120Hz, etc.
  • Slope: Available options such as 12dB/oct, 24dB/oct, etc.
  1. Slope and Through Adjustment (Area 3)

In the crossover adjustment interface of the Vision series car stereo, Slope and Through adjustment functions allow users to fine-tune how audio signals are distributed. These parameters directly influence the signal attenuation rate and whether the crossover is bypassed, playing a key role in achieving high-fidelity sound tuning.

Slope Adjustment

Definition: Refers to the rate of signal attenuation after the crossover point, typically measured in decibels per octave (dB/oct).

Common Settings: 6dB/oct, 12dB/oct, 18dB/oct, 24dB/oct, 36dB/oct, 48dB/oct.

Functionality:

  • A higher slope value (e.g., 24dB/oct or more) means faster frequency attenuation after the crossover point, which helps reduce frequency overlap and intermodulation distortion.
  • A lower slope value offers a smoother transition between frequency bands, ideal for more natural sound blending.

Through Mode

Definition: In this mode, the signal bypasses the high-pass or low-pass filter, meaning no crossover is applied, and the full frequency range is sent directly to the speaker.

Use Cases:

Ideal when an external DSP or amplifier has already handled the crossover;

Suitable for testing or full-range speaker outputs;

Provides maximum system flexibility and compatibility.

Operation Steps:

Navigation Path: Navigate to Equalizer (EQ) App > Master > Crossover

It is recommended that you play music in the background while performing the following settings to achieve a sound effect that better meets your needs.

Step 1: Select the audio output channel

(2) In Bi-amping and Tri-amping modes, you can adjust the crossover frequency, low-pass filter frequency, slope, and the through (Through) mode. "Through" mode typically means disabling the crossover filter for that channel—that is, the crossover function is not enabled for that channel, and the signal will be output as full-range without passing through either the high-pass or low-pass filter.

Step 4: Fine-Tune and Evaluate

After each parameter adjustment, play familiar music or test tracks to evaluate the crossover effect until satisfied.

Solution:

Yes, the customized settings will be retained even if the B+ power supply of the Vision series car stereo is disconnected for 5–7 days.

After reconnecting the B+ power supply, the device may display the startup logo again and go through the normal boot process. This is expected behavior and does not indicate a problem.

Summary:

The Vision series car stereo retains customized settings even after the B+ power supply is disconnected for several days. When power is restored, the system may reboot and display the startup logo again, which is normal.

  1. Issue:

A popping sound occurs from the subwoofer when the Vision series car stereo starts up.

Symptoms:

When the vehicle is turned on, the subwoofer produces a noticeable popping sound.

If the vehicle is turned off and then immediately turned back on, the popping sound usually does not occur. However, if the unit enters sleep mode for a short period (about one to two minutes) before restarting, the popping sound may occur again.

Solution:

It is recommended to install a 12V-to-5V step-down converter in the car audio system.

This helps stabilize the power supply to the audio system and may reduce or eliminate the popping sound from the subwoofer during startup.
