Chapter 8 Troubleshooting

8.1 No Video or Connection Issues

If the camera takes a long time to display video on your car stereo, frequently freezes or buffers, or fails to show any video, the issue may be caused by a weak wireless signal between the camera and the receiver box. Connection interference can be caused by structural elements of your vehicle.

How to Improve Wireless Signal:

  • Adjust the receiver’s antenna

Open the WDVC app and check the signal strength. If it is below 60%, try rotating the receiver’s antenna in different directions to improve the signal to 60% or higher.

  • Reposition the camera

Rotate and adjust the camera’s vertical angle. Adjust the distance between the antenna and the vehicle’s trunk metal. Try to point the antenna toward the sky.

Remove the camera from its bracket and temporarily flip it upside down. Reinstall the camera on the license plate or in a different location. When the camera is mounted with the ATOTO logo facing downward, it will automatically flip the video on your display device to ensure the image is correctly oriented. Flipping the camera may change the position of the wireless antenna and, in some cases, improve connection quality.

8.2 Cold Weather Issues

Low temperatures may reduce battery performance and affect connection. If the battery is below 20%, recharge the camera.

8.3 Camera Paired but No Video Display

If the camera’s battery is fully charged and the indicator light is slow-blinking blue, but no video appears on your car stereo, follow these steps:

Possible Cause: Camera Not Paired Successfully

Solution: Press and hold the WAKE/PAIR button on the receiver box for 3 seconds to enter pairing mode. The receiver’s indicator light will change from slow-blinking blue to fast-blinking blue and remain in pairing mode for 15 seconds. If pairing is successful within this time, the light will turn solid blue.

Camera Pairing Process:

Press and hold the camera’s power button for 3 seconds to enter pairing mode. The indicator light will briefly turn red, then switch to fast-blinking blue. Once pairing is successful, the light will turn solid blue.

After Successful Pairing:

Open the WDVC App on your car stereo. The camera feed should appear in the app. By default, the camera operates in Power-Saving Mode and will automatically exit the App after 2 minutes.

8.4 Unstable Signal or Intermittent Connection

Possible Causes:

The camera and receiver are installed beyond the effective wireless range.

There are metal structures or enclosures between the two devices that interfere with signal transmission.

Recommended Solution:

For optimal performance, install the camera and receiver within an open-air distance of approximately 7 meters (23 feet).

Avoid placing large metal objects or multiple layers of metal (such as trailer walls, toolboxes, or vehicle frames) between the camera and receiver.

If the layout limits placement options, consider repositioning the receiver closer to the camera to maintain a clear signal path.
