This is the third ATOTO head unit I have installed

This is the third ATOTO head unit I have installed in my personal (family) vehicles, and it definitely won't be the last! About two years ago I was looking for a double-din head unit with wireless apple carplay, a back-up camera, and a dash cam for a 1969 VW Bug that I've been restoring/modifying. I read a ton of reviews on Amazon for the various brands and there was a strong positive consensus for the ATOTO brand.Previous to this I had installed a Kenwood head-unit in one of my other vehicles and it worked fine, but when I compared features between that unit and the ATOTO, the ATOTO had a lot more capability and functionality than my Kenwood did, and at a much better price point. So I waited until Black Friday (because I'm cheap) and I found an ATOTO A6 on a good deal and I ordered it. Because my bug was so old, I was kind of worried about putting the new tech in the antique vehicle, and I wondered if it would be compatible with the old, very basic, wiring. I did have to build a custom wiring harness on the car's side, but the ATOTO side used all of the OEM wiring it came with. I've been running that radio in my bug and have had zero issues with it. It always connects to my phone via carplay, and the cameras (both front and back) work perfectly. For my Father's birthday I decided to install a new head unit in his 2003 Chevy Silverado truck so he could have a back-up camera, and have maps on the screen to help him find addresses. So, I ordered an ATOTO F7 WE and installed it in his truck. It also has been flawless. He doesn't really understand apple carplay, bluetooth, or really any of the tech in this radio, so it's a relief for me that once I setup the radio, it just works. It always connects, and the few features I showed him how to use (like how to play music, enter addresses, etc.) ALWAYS work for him. He is in his late 70's, so ease of use and stability in the tech is paramount.About a month ago my daughter asked if I would install a new head unit in her 2009 Toyota Corolla for her birthday. So, I got another ATOTO A6 and installed it for her. What else to say. It works perfectly for her. She is very tech savy and has loved the user interface, and the ease of customizing settings for her music, etc.I highly recommend ATOTO brand head units. They have a great feature set, but the thing that I like the most is peace of mind that they just work (and they produce great audio in the car).Note: I also recently installed an Android head-unit in my son's 2003 Toyota Camry, he wanted one with an integrated bezel so we ordered a different brand. The slightly larger screen on that radio is nice, but the software is really flaky and it will cut out on him sometimes. Plus there were no instructions for that radio (unlike the ATOTOs which all had manuals included) so it was a learn by youtube experience for that one.

Great sounding standard size car infotament unit

I recently purchased the ATOTO A6 PF to replace the ATOTO F7 unit I bought three years ago. Unfortunately, I bricked it during a firmware update. Despite the warranty expiring two years ago, ATOTO's tech support did their best to help me, providing recovery, new firmware files, and a video showing how to use it. Sadly, it was beyond repair. When choosing a replacement, I didn't waste time looking elsewhere; I immediately checked ATOTO's current selection of products under $200.What I need from my car stereo is CarPlay (for phone calls, music, and navigation) and the rearview camera, and let me tell you, A6 PF delivered. Everything else Android-related is just icing on the cake.Installation: Everything I needed was in the box, making the process straightforward. The only additional requirements were car-specific parts like the wiring harness and dash kit.If you install it yourself, I recommend buying a trim removal kit (about $10) to protect your trim from damage and last a lifetime.Prepare to solder matching wires on your car-specific wiring harness to the stereo's harness. Remove the trim to replace the old radio with the new one. Remove some trim to run cables for the rearview camera installation (if you choose this option). The rearview camera adds a new level of safety and convenience to your driving experience. It's crystal clear day and night, and the wide-angle view is a game-changer. It takes the guesswork out of backing up—far better than just using mirrors.Sound Quality: The sound is incredible for a budget unit, and there are many ways to customize it. Besides the equalizer, I used time delay and bass boost to dial it to perfection.I would like to note that a couple of years ago, I upgraded my car’s factory speakers with some good-quality ones from Crutchfield (I spent about $150 for front and rear door speakers).A6PF made them really shine. I’m not thinking about buying a subwoofer anymore :)Phone calls: Before finishing installation, I made a few test calls and asked my friends to describe the quality.  I tried a built-in microphone and an external microphone (various placements) and compared my phone’s speakerphone. Everyone said 8/10, which is very similar to the iPhone’s speakerphone but just a little quieter. There was no major difference between a built-in microphone and an external one.Solid 5/5Screen: 7-inch fits perfectly to a standard Double Din opening. It’s bright, colorful, and responsive. It comes with two screen protectors (clear and matte). I installed a matte one, and while it made videos look a little less vibrant, there were zero reflections on the screen.Ease of Use:Once everything was installed, I spent a couple of hours customizing everything to my liking. I removed icons and widgets I did not need and installed apps I wanted to have (Netflix, YouTube, etc.)If you can figure out your phone or tablet, you should be able to make an easy work out of it.Who is it for? Or User Scenarios:This is my opinion, and you might use any mix of the below.1. Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto: This is great for short trips. Just start the car, and your phone connects automatically. However, Wireless CarPlay uses Bluetooth and WiFi to transmit data and will drain your phone's battery faster. So, if you intend to go completely wireless, keep a QI2 15W charger handy for longer trips.2. Wired CarPlay: This is perfect for long trips. Set your phone to hotspot mode for passengers (this automatically disables Wireless Carplay connection), and they can stream their favorite shows. The wired connection also keeps your phone charged. Your phone will charge at a regular speed, and you will still get to your destination with a full battery on your phone.3. Offline Use: Ideal for those without a smartphone or for offline situations. Connect your phone via Bluetooth, use home Wi-Fi for offline maps and media, or plug in a USB drive. Bluetooth uses hardly any power, so no worries there.Pros and Cons: I'm very satisfied since I use CarPlay 95% of the time. Apple spent ten years perfecting it, and it shows. It connects quickly and reliably. If I had to nitpick, I would suggest ATOTO make some improvements to the Android side of things. Most people don’t need a 36-band equalizer; 12 would be enough. Time Delay controls are in centimeters (the US still uses inches). The radio interface has so many options that I can’t figure out without reading the manual. But thank God it had a Favorite stations list. Maybe create a wizard app for non-tech-savvy people to simplify the setup process. Add a few different-style interfaces.Nothing I mentioned is cons, but a few changes can make it feel more polished.Overall Value: This infotainment system is a steal for the price. It caters to all kinds of users. If you’re into a sleek, factory look, this 7-inch unit is perfect. If you have a bigger budget and love your iPhone Pro MAX, you might want to consider a model with a bigger screen. Just make sure it fits without obscurin...

Even better than expected

I received this stereo today, it came well packaged and is just what I expected. It works exactly as it should and seem well made. It fit great in my old square body and makes a fun ride even better.Overall, this purchase perfectly matches its description, and I am extremely satisfied with the product. It definitely deserves a five-star rating and I would purchase again!

Excellent media player.

I hook it up with 12V and a pair of speaker.Picked up WIFI very fast and connects to my phone (Android) without any issue.Has enough power to blast on my bookshelf speakers.Simple wiring (standard wiring) with one of the best instruction for car stereo. They labeled all wires and instruction/manual shows that, too.Personally I like physical rotary dial for volume control, but unlike other Android car players I've seen, this one has dedicated physical volume up/down button - not screen sliding.Like "mute" button as well.Comes with 2 screen protectors! However, I found they are very hard to apply - too much bubble and they are dust magnet when applying.Google map via wifi (not via Android auto) works really well - no lags!Fast responding and detail instruction for all wiring.Highly recommend.

Love this radio.

I have not got to install this in my vehicle yet as it is in the shop. However, I have played with this on the bench and it is really awesome. The build quality is good, the wiring is not too complicated. (it is a multimedia system so there is some complexity, but easy enough to do). There is a lot of functionality built into this unit. Install will be easier if you buy the right kit that lets you build a jumper harness on the bench so it is more plug and play. I am mainly getting to add android auto to a 2006 Suburban.Let's my Android phone connect Android Auto. I will play more and update this review once it is installed.
