Wow!!!! Atoto F7 XE 10 Inch Screen - Initial Install Review March 28,2022

I just installed today in a 2012 Toyota Corolla (I've never installed a radio before and saved $160 in install fee) and everything is working great, Android Auto features work just as expected, The call sound both to and from is very good (despite some saying it isn't good), the stereo sound is impressive, the screen quality is amazing, you can customize both the home screen and android auto screen to your liking, please see pictures attached. I tested screen mirroring and the apps work just as expected while in park.....Tip 1 Microphone installation location:take both the clip off and the microphone sleeve off the microphone given by Atoto and route your microphone from the overhead light compartment through the ceiling to the drivers side and along the side pillar then under to the radio, my microphone is literally about 6 to 8 inches away from my mouth and the sound reception was stated to be very good (some people stated call quality not good could be because of how its wired)Tip 2: Wiring Colors in Dash harness - The colors of your wiring harness (inside your dash) might have different color wiring then the radio harness you wired from your stereo (I was confused and called metra and they said some manufacturers have different color codes they used inside your dash) you can call metra to make sure before you connect to verify this just as an extra assured before you clip your connectors inTip 3: In additon to this radio: You will need the connectors that wire to this radio and fit to the connectors inside your dash (every vehicle has different looking connectors that click into their corresponding factory radio,go to metraonline.com and see which stereo connectors you will need (note: you may not need all the connectors they suggest, you have to sift through that and determine only the ones that are absolutely necessary), you will also need an install kit with brackets might be needed as well, I needed to buy an install kit for a single din radio so that I could install this in my car...Steering Wheel functions - I passed on the connectors that allowed me to use the steering wheel function because it was $110 and instead purchased the Atoto wireless strap on steering wheel function for around $50 and it works just as good...To solder your wires: To attach your connector wires to the Atoto rear stereo wires you will need self soldering connectors with which you can just use a cigarette lighter to solder and shrink tube the two attaching wires.....I purchased and used (150pcs Solder Seal Wire Connectors, ELECFUN)Tip 4: Sirius XM: If you want to use sirius XM radio you will have to purchase an addtional tuner that goes for about $50 that connects to the back of this radio before you install it and will catch the channels (The subsription fee is additional to this fee like 112 dollars a month or so) I passed on this optionTip 5: You can Drill a 3/4 inch hole in the back of you plastic din pocket (that either comes with this or with your installation kit), and feed your main usb connection cable through this hole to the inside of your car (this is how I fed my usb cable from the back of the Atoto unit back into the cabin (Every time I dont use the wire i tuck it back behind the screen inside the pocket and it is hidden...ALSO...you can feed your Wifi antenna that connects to the back of this radio and through this hole inside the pocket. It is a way of getting the wifi antenna closer to the stereo...if you want a clean look then purchase a grommet for a couple of dollars to snap in the hole and make it look professionalTip 6: After you install the radio go to settings and make sure the radio settings are set to north america, I was only getting stations up to 99.99 and couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting beyond that...It was because it was set to japan not north america...Don't want to get ahead of myself and will write a follow up review after 6 months but so far so good!!!

Generally good

Sound is passable. It does support rear and forward cameras which is nice, and Android auto works well enough.
