Works great!

I got this for my 2014 Subaru BRZ. I wanted a backup camera and a Android Auto but I didn't want to go through replacing the head unit again. I had already replaced it back in 2015 (with a Jensen unit) because the OEM navigation was terrible. I thought this might be a good solution and it worked out very well.Installation was straightforward. The included mounting clamp works well. Pairing with my phone was easy and Android Auto worked right away. Make sure you remove the pairing with your installed head unit. An odd thing is after you pair your phone with the unit you then need to pair your phone with your installed head unit. Apparently the Atoto P5 switches to WiFi once it's paired and you need the Bluetooth link back to the head unit to send audio through it. It's a little weird but it works just fine. The backup camera was a little more work because you need to do three things: 1) mount the camera at the rear of your car which you can do with small screws or included double-sided adhesive. I chose screws; 2) tap into the backup light to signal the camera when you're in reverse (the camera is actually powered by the Atoto P5 so you only need to do this if you want the camera to automatically be shown when you shift into reverse; 3) run the wire from the camera up to the Atoto P5. It's not difficult work but it can be a bit time consuming if you want it to look tidy. The total installation probably took me about 2 hours. At the end I had exactly what I wanted, a backup camera and Android Auto. It works really well and I'm really happy with it. I might get another one for my old pickup truck.

Very nice price to add Apple CarPlay to an older vehicle

I grabbed this to put in my wife's 2010 4Runner so that she could have all the CarPlay features and stop messing with the crappy nav and radio that are factory in her car. She doesn't really care about sound quality and appearance like I do so this was a great, inexpensive fit for her. I didn't attach the backup camera or the remote for this install... There's already a back up camera on the car, and I feel like the remote is just unnecessary. Setup is very easy... although programming prompts could have been a little better worded, it's still pretty self explanatory. Everything works as expected just like any other CarPlay system with responsive touch screen controls. I do like the built-in mic for talking to Siri however, it sounds pretty terrible on calls. There's good and bad to the mounting system... I like the sticky mat for the dash... it holds really well even in high heat situations. The bad is the plastic arm itself... kinda difficult to find that perfect position and clunky to adjust. All-in-all... I recommend if you're in the market to not change your entire head unit out for CarPlay. This is a much more inexpensive alternative as opposed to my $2k+ setup in my 4Runner.
